Advice on Selling Your Art Work
Impartial professional advice
is invaluable when deciding where to sell works
of art, as is advice regarding the presentation of your painting
(framing, cleaning etc). The example below is a perfect
illustration of this point.
This important work by Barrie Cooke was sold at a Dublin auction
room in November 2001, for £2,500.00. It was subsequently cleaned
and reframed – greatly enhancing its presentation– and resold in
March 2002 at another Dublin auction room less than three miles
away.
Placed in the appropriate auction room the painting made a
staggering five times its original cost (£14,500), in this
instance a difference of £12,000.
Our fees are 7% + VAT (21%) for such work.
We act solely for you. We do not take commissions from auctioneers
and pass all inducements/commission directly back to you the
client, often leading to substantially reduced auctioneers fees.
We have consigned major works of art to leading auctioneers in
Ireland and abroad, including work by J. B Yeats and Harry Kernoff
RHA (1900-1974), an example of which is illustrated opposite.
